Take Care of Your Skin in Winter

In winter, Care of Your Skin becomes a big challenge for many of us. Cold breezes and low humidity levels leave your skin itchy, irritated and dry. Indoor heat also plays a role in stealing the air moisture. If you overlook these issues, the excessive dryness can cause your skin to crack and bleed. Read these few useful tips to keep your skin hydrated, healthy, smooth and glowing in winters.

Take Care of Your Skin

  • During winter, you tend to drink hot beverages and so your water intake decreases considerably. Remember that your skin needs to be hydrated form inside to combat dry weather conditions. Keep drinking lots of water throughout the day to make your skin fresh, hydrated and shine.
  • Hot showers in winter strips of the skin’s natural oils. Therefore, use lukewarm water for baths, especially if you are washing your hands and face only. Likewise, apply a good moisturizer after bathing or washing your face and hands. The moisturizer helps in sealing the dampness into your skin.
  • Avoid using cleansers that are made of harsh chemicals like alcohol and artificial fragrances as they can damage your dry skin further. A cream-based cleanser is a good choice for winter season as it preserves the skin moisture. Additionally, always choose oil-based moisturizers instead of water-based for winters as they help in soothing itchy, dry skin.
  • Winter fabrics like wool and rough textured clothing when touch your skin directly; often cause your dry skin to get red and itchy. Therefore, try wearing light, soft and breathable fabric first and then cover yourself with warm, heavy sweaters.
  • Exfoliating your skin is quite important in winter as dead cells prevent the moisturizer to penetrate in your skin. Try using a gentle exfoliating mask on your hands, face and lips as well, and apply a rich moisturizer as soon as you are done with exfoliating to take Care of Your Skin .
  • Application of sunscreen in winter is as crucial as in summer. This is because UV rays from sun can damage your skin even in dark, cloudy days of winter.

Apply a broad-spectrum sun block with SPF 15 or more on all your exposed body parts.
